Sophie Burgis is an Associate Psychotherapist at Olive Leaf who brings authenticity, humor, and directness to her work with clients. With specialized training in Attachment-Focused EMDR, suicide prevention, and trauma-informed care, Sophie is passionate about supporting individuals navigating attachment wounds, complex trauma, and maladaptive coping patterns.

Her approach to therapy is interactive and collaborative—offering thoughtful questions, honest reflections, and real human connection. Sophie creates a space where clients can explore the impact of trauma, untangle painful relational patterns, and make sense of somatic symptoms like anxiety, anger, or chronic stress. She invites clients to be curious about their reactions, set healthy boundaries, and challenge societal narratives that no longer serve them.

Sophie holds a Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from California State University, Dominguez Hills, and a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Her clinical experience is shaped by work in community mental health, peer support, and resiliency-focused education, enriching her ability to meet clients with both expertise and empathy.

“The opposite of trauma is not the absence of pain, but the presence of safety.”
